Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a Private Lesson?
Please either email me at ferg@ferggriffindrums.com or drop me a message on 07818 001 791
What happens after I book?
I will reach out to you to ask a bit of background about you. For example:
How long have you been playing?
Are you interested in learning something specific or opting for a more guided approach?
Asking this sort of thing will help me understand what you would like from the lessons and how I can best serve you :)
Are the Drum Lessons suitable for Kids/Children?
Yes, of course! Lessons will be fun to keep kids engaged and, in addition, there will be notation sent after each lesson with an adjustable BPM/Tempo slider where the student can listen at the same time as read - this a fantastic way to learn! With basic theory taught alongside the fun stuff, I can ensure your child has a fantastic learning experience with large educational value. I am Enhanced DBS certified.
Are the Drum Lessons suitable for Beginners?
Yes, of course! I can walk you through the very beginning of your new drumming journey to wherever you’d like to go! From Holding your Sticks, Playing your First Drum Beat, Learning your First Rudiment, Beginner Drum Fills, Beginner Grooves, I will show 100% dedication to your progression.
Are the Drum Lessons suitable for Intermediate Players?
Absolutely! How do I get setup for Online Drum Lessons?
If you’re just getting started, the easiest option is to get your laptop/tablet/phone and pop it somewhere where I can see your kit and your hands. A Laptop can be on a table (generally best to put it next to the hi-hat where I can see your whole kit). A phone can be harder to setup the angle, so it may be better to get yourself a tripod if you’d like to use your phone (these can be purchased cheap from Amazon, for example here). You can also just put your device on a music stand and angle the camera appropriately, if it’s easier.
Do I need a Gmail Account to access Google Meet?
No. Upon booking, you will be sent a confirmation email that includes the meeting link that you will click on to enter the lesson. You will be sent a new one every time so we can ensure your lesson is private. All you need to do is click on the link and you’re in! You can also add this to your Google/Outlook calendar etc. so you can keep yourself organised/make sure you don’t forget. I will, additionally, send you email reminders/notifications for your lesson if you would like.
How do I pay?
I will send you payment details after we agree a suitable time for us both :)
Do I have to be based in the UK?
Not at all. My lessons are catered for everyone. The only limitations are time zones and my less than adequate ability to speak other languages, I do apologise! I am sure we will be able to find a suitable time for a lesson irrespective of where you live in the world :)
Are the lessons One-to-One?
Yes, navigate to the Private Lessons Tab. I am also building an Online Drum School as part of this site as we speak which I am SO EXCITED about. This will feature courses tailored to where you want to improve :)
I can’t quite afford an hour lesson, what do I do?
Please don’t worry about this. There is so much we can cover in half an hour and, as long as you practice alongside it, I promise you will see serious progression. If you are really struggling financially, please do get in touch - I believe drum education should be for everyone so I am sure we will be able to work something out. Please contact ferg@ferggriffindrums.com.
Thank you so much for considering me to be your Drum Teacher and I can’t wait to see you inside :)
